JB Picks is built on craftsmanship, service, and a lifelong love of creating things that make life—and music—a little better.
My name is Jack, and I served 9.5 years as a Machinist Mate in the United States Submarine Service. I was stationed aboard the USS Drum (SSN‑677) in San Diego, commissioned and served on the USS Montpelier (SSN‑765), and later taught future submariners at the Naval Submarine School in Groton, Connecticut. The discipline, precision, and pride I learned in the Navy still shape everything I make today.
After leaving the service, I spent more than 30 years in IT, always tinkering, building, and learning. A few years ago I fell head‑first into 3D printing—and never climbed back out. My wife calls it an addiction, and she’s probably right. She’s been my best friend for 34 years, and together we’re also involved in cat rescue, which keeps life interesting and full of heart.
JB Picks started with a simple request from my brother, a professional bass player. He asked if I could design a custom pick for him, so I created what became the JB Original, complete with the signature Grip Fin. He loved it, and that one design turned into a passion project. Today, JB Picks includes multiple models—the JB Original, 355 Grip Fin, Shield Grip Fin, and Thin Grip Fin—each engineered for comfort, control, and durability.
Every pick is 3D printed to order using strong, flexible PETG filament, and every one is proudly Veteran Made in the USA. My goal is simple: create picks that feel great, perform reliably, and bring a little handcrafted authenticity back into the music world.
Whether you’re a seasoned musician or just love unique gear, I’m honored to share my designs with you. Thanks for supporting a veteran‑owned small maker shop—and welcome to JB Picks.
